Statutory accident insurance (non-contributory)

  • Students are covered by statutory accident insurance during their education and training at universities and on the causal routes associated with attending the university.
  • This insurance is non-contributory.
  • Students receive the same benefits as all other persons covered by statutory accident insurance. These are, above all, the assumption of costs for medical treatment (the doctor treating the student must be informed immediately that the accident occurred in connection with attending the university), entitlement to a pension and to all necessary rehabilitation assistance in the event of permanent damage.

Private accidents are not covered by statutory accident insurance. These are either covered by health insurance or private accident insurance.

Contact persons and further information: The student office of the respective university should be informed of the accident immediately. It will forward the report to the insurance provider.
