With auto-LOAD, the Studierendenwerk Würzburg offers an additional service that allows you to automatically recharge your chip card at a canteen or cafeteria checkout if your credit falls below a certain value. You determine this minimum and the amount of the top-up yourself within a predefined framework.

Thanks to auto-LOAD, you no longer need to worry about whether there is enough money left on your chip card. All you have to do is give the Studierendenwerk Würzburg a SEPA direct debit mandate for your current account to debit the top-up amounts from your account. Participation in auto-LOAD is voluntary.

How can I register?

Registration is available online. Please complete the form below in full.

Personal information

  • Charging also possible without terminals
  • No more long queuing at the reloading terminals
  • Always enough money on the card
  • No need to check the balance of your chip card
  • Shorter waiting times at the checkouts

Auto-LOAD is possible with any chip card of the Studierendenwerk or the universities (student ID card, employee card, guest card, pupil card).

  • The cashless recharging of the chip card is generally possible at all Studierendenwerk Würzburg catering checkouts.
  • A recharge via auto-LOAD works in conjunction with a purchase at a Studierendenwerk cash register - at the moment you fall below your personal minimum value limit. If you agree to the recharge during the checkout process, you will receive a receipt upon request. If you decline, your balance will remain unchanged.
  • For security reasons, automatic recharging at the checkouts is only possible once a day.

Your account will be debited within 4 days of topping up at a Studierendenwerk cash desk.

If you do not have sufficient credit on your current account and a chargeback is made, the payment function on your chip card will be blocked. If a direct debit is returned due to insufficient funds in your account or incorrect bank details, you will be charged a fee of 6 euros. Payment arrears can be paid at a service point of the Studierendenwerk or at the cash desks of the catering facilities. Your card will then be unblocked and can then be used to its full extent.

Participation in auto-LOAD is voluntary. You can of course continue to top up your card with cash, a credit card or a Girocard at the relevant top-up machines. If you also participate in the auto-LOAD procedure, you can switch between all options as required.

One-time registration is completed at your local Service Point. Please bring your EC (debit) card and your student ID/chip card. For the SEPA Direct Debit authorization, you must also present a valid government-issued photo ID for identity verification.

Alternatively, you can also register online.

  • The auto-LOAD minimum balance is the amount of money below which you will be asked at the checkout whether you would like to top up. The auto-LOAD minimum balance is 10 euros, but you can set a higher amount during the registration process.
  • The auto-LOAD top-up amount is the amount that is credited to your chip card as credit when you top up and is debited from your account by direct debit. Before the actual top-up, you will be asked at the checkout whether you agree to the top-up. You also determine this amount yourself during the registration process. The auto-LOAD top-up amount can be between 10 euros and 50 euros.

You can change the amounts for the minimum balance and the top-up amount at any time at the service points. Please bring your debit card and chip card with you.

If you register at one of our Service Points, your account will be activated on the next business day.

If you register online, your account will be activated after you have received the activation email.

As auto-LOAD is based on the European SEPA direct debit scheme, account holders with credit institutions in 36 countries can currently participate in the auto-LOAD scheme (SEPA area). The only requirement is proof of a valid residential address in Germany.

Please report the loss to one of our Service Points or by email to chipkarte@swerk-wue.de so that your student card and the auto-LOAD function can be blocked.

You decide whether to use the auto-LOAD service and for how long. You may cancel your participation in the auto-LOAD service at any time by visiting one of the Studierendenwerk service points or by sending an email with your registered details (name, address, and IBAN) to autoload@~@swerk-wue.~.de.

Please note that terminating the auto-LOAD service will also revoke the SEPA Direct Debit Mandate you have granted.

When registering for the auto-LOAD service, your personal data will be stored electronically for the purpose of processing your application.

The chip card is linked only to the bank account details provided as part of your SEPA Direct Debit Mandate, which are required for the automatic top-up process.

The Studierendenwerk uses a non-personalized data field on the student ID card or chip card. During payment, only the card number, the user group, and the card's validity are processed.

No other personal data is collected electronically. In addition, the Privacy Policy of Studierendenwerk Würzburg continues to apply.

If you have any questions about AutoLoad, please contact one of our local Service Points or send an email to chipkarte@swerk-wue.de.
