Studiobühne Presents “Robin Hood”

The Studiobühne Würzburg continues its winter season with a new production of the classic tale “Robin Hood”. From 19 to 23 January, the ensemble presents a vivid and contemporary interpretation focusing on the early years of the legendary figure.

Audiences meet Robin Hood as a young mendicant monk and skilled archer who saves the life of his future loyal companion Boy George when the latter is threatened by the Sheriff of Nottingham’s gamekeepers. Long before he becomes the leader and “avenger of the disinherited and downtrodden,” Robin’s actions are driven by his profound sense of justice.

While the Sheriff of Nottingham attempts by all means to destroy Robin Hood’s small band, he has not reckoned with Robin’s cunning nor with the steadfast loyalty of his followers. Supported by a close-knit group of companions, Robin stands firmly against oppression, arbitrariness, and misuse of power.

Under the direction of Bernd Klaus Jerofke, this production blends traditional elements of the Robin Hood legend with a fresh and modern theatrical approach, resulting in a compelling portrayal of courage, solidarity, and standing up for what is right.
